Bangkok and Ayutthaya – Central Thailand

Home / Asia / Bangkok and Ayutthaya – Central Thailand

My first two days in Thailand started with two great historical spots: Ayutthaya and Old Town Bangkok

My Favourite Moments

1. Ayyuthaya

The ideal location of Ayuuthaya (between China, India and the Malay Archipelago) has throughout history made this city the largest city in the world with around 1 million inhabitants. European merchants proclaimed Ayyuthaya as the finest city they had ever seen – and from the ruins that are now left in this UNESCO world heritage site, I can definitely see why!

2. Bangkok

In the eyes of many tourists, Bangkok serves as merely a connection point from their home to their destination. It is true that the capital city of Thailand welcomes you with traffic, pollution, heat and congestion, but Bangkok has a lot to offer up its’ sleeves. Indeed, Bangkok has two faces: the old town (loads of beautiful temples, museums and monuments), and the modern part (loads of commercial buildings). Both have something to offer. Although, I was obviously more impressed with the historical side of the city.
